The procedure for setting up a new account in Outlook Express:

 

1) Open Outlook Express
2) Click on ‘Tools’ menu, then ‘Accounts’, then ‘Mail’ tab.
3) Click ‘Add’ then ‘Mail’
4) Fill in the information below. Repeat all steps for each account
5) Information is case sensitive for setup purposes. (Not email purposes)
6) Go back into ‘Properties’ when done. NO check on ‘Logon Using Secure Password’

IN THE BOXES SHOWN ON THE SAMPLE INPUT SCREENS BELOW:
REPLACE:
name@yourdomain.com  with  your entire email address    
REPLACE:  www.yourdomain.com  with    your website address    
PASSWORD: password (Case sensitive, use lower case – ie use jesusislord not JESUSISLORD)

Check box for “Remember Password”
Check box for “My Server Requires Authentication”
DO NOT Check box for “Logon Using Secure…”
Repeat for other accounts

Problems?

1. After setup, you cannot send or receive email, you get errors.

Solution 1. Go back into Outlook Express, Tools -> Accounts -> (High Light Account) -> Properties - > Servers, make certain your fields are correct. Look at the 2nd illustration above, and use the data sent to you by email. A common mistake is to use an incomplete email address in the account name field. An example would be:   greg rather than greg@adventdigital.com. The latter is correct. The example above must be substituted with the correct data we sent you.

 

2. The mail server disconnects you, and you get an error message to that effect.

Solution 2. Any use of a spam blocking software will cause the mail server to disconnect you.
Solution: Turn off all spam blocking software (except internal to Outlook Express) and uninstall it.
Note: We are not referring to antivirus software, only spam blocking software.
